Letchworth, the world’s first Garden City, celebrated its first Centenary in 2003. To mark this important milestone, Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation invested over £1.25m to improve access to, and the quality of, much of Letchworth’s countryside. Today, the Garden City Greenway offers excellent opportunities for people of all ages to enjoy the open air through walks and recreational facilities. It embodies what the Garden City is all about - a place ‘where town and country meet’.
This 13.6 mile (21.8km) route encircles the Garden City, for walkers and in parts wheelchair users, cyclists and horses. As well as the abundance of natural flora, fauna and wildlife, there are some very special places to visit along the way. Including Radwell Meadows Country Park, Wymondley Wood, Willian Arboretum, Norton Pond and Standalone Farm.
